ColonView Hb and Hb/Hp Test

BIOHIT ColonView Hb and Hb/Hp test can be used to screen for lower gastrointestinal (GI) organic pathologies, such as colorectal cancers and large adenomas that bleed. ColonView is a new generation lateral flow faecal immunochemical test (FIT), intended for the rapid detection of faecal occult blood (FOB) in stool samples.

Category:

Key Advantages

Quick and simple one-step test, with results in just 15 minutes

Excellent analytical and clinical performance, with superior sensitivity over traditional FIT tests that detect Hb alone

Applicable to asymptomatic and symptomatic patients

No pre-test dietary restrictions

Patient-friendly sample collection kit for use at home, includes a single sample collection tube, instructions for use and a handy stool collection paper

BIOHIT ColonView® Quick Test

The BIOHIT ColonView® Quick Test is a rapid and qualitative dual immunochromatographic lateral flow test designed for the visual and automated detection of human haemoglobin (Hb) and the haemoglobin/haptoglobin complex (Hb/Hp) in stool samples. Because the Hb/Hp complex is notably resistant to acid and proteolytic degradation, this occult blood marker can be identified even after an extended journey through the digestive system, thus increasing the likelihood of detecting larger intestinal polyps and proximal colorectal cancers.

The results of the ColonView® Quick Test can be interpreted in two ways:

1) Through visual assessment

2) By employing the Quick Test Reader (QTR), a portable device validated and configured by BIOHIT Oyj for the automated reading of ColonView® Quick tests and other lateral flow assays.

What is ColonView Quick Test?

ColonView is a rapid lateral flow test that detects both human haemoglobin (Hb) and haemoglobin/haptoglobin (Hb/Hp) complexes in stool. It is a type of enhanced faecal immunochemical (FIT) test and offers a highly sensitive and specific method for colorectal cancer screening by detecting carcinomas and adenomas that bleed.

How does ColonView Quick Test work?

ColonView incorporates highly specific antibodies that detect human haemoglobin and haemoglobin/haptoglobin complexes from a stool sample suspension using lateral flow technology. A stool sample is collected by the patient using the dedicated stool sample collection tube, which is then sent to the laboratory or clinic for testing using the dual strip lateral flow test. The results can be interpreted visually or by using the dedicated BIOHIT Quick Test reader.

How does ColonView differ from other FIT Tests?

Most FIT tests detect only faecal haemoglobin whereas, ColonView Quick Test detects both human haemoglobin and haemoglobin/haptoglobin complexes in a stool sample. This helps to enhance the sensitivity of testing in colorectal cancer screening settings.

What is the cut-off for ColonView?

ColonView employs the following cut-offs: haemoglobin (Hb) 15ng/ml;  haemoglobin/haptoglobin (Hb/Hp) complex 4ng/ml. Cut-offs have been determined based on clinical studies.

How accurate is the ColonView Quick Test for colon cancer?

For the detection of adenoma and carcinoma ColonView has demonstrated the following performance characteristics: Sensitivity 97.3%; Specificity 85.1%; PPV 91.4%; NPV 95.1%; with an AUC= 0.912.
