Key Advantages

The SmarTest® vitamin D blood test kit is a very simple-to-use system for measuring and monitoring vitamin D levels. It is ideal for measuring vitamin D levels in blood in a self-test or clinical setting, and it can accurately determine vitamin deficiency, insufficiency, optimal, and excessive levels anywhere.

Results from patients using the SmarTest® vitamin D blood test in a remote setting (e.g. at home) can be automatically transferred from the SmarTest® Vitamin D app to the healthcare team’s free online portal for remote monitoring of test results ensuring results are never missed.

As with any medical test, accuracy, and efficiency are of absolute paramount importance. The SmarTest® vitamin D blood test kit uses a finger-prick blood sample and has an incubation time of just 15 minutes. The entire process can be completed in around 20 minutes using the rapid immunochromatographic lateral-flow test and SmarTest app.

The two most common vitamers are D2 (ergocalciferol) and D3 (cholecalciferol), and the SmarTest® vitamin D blood test kit can detect both. This 25 hydroxy vitamin D test kit was designed and manufactured to test and recognise 25(OH)vitamin D2, 25(OH)vitamin D3, 1,25(OH)2 vitamin D2 and 1,25(OH)2 vitamin D3.

Due to the meticulous and highly systematic way in which the SmarTest® vitamin D test kits were researched, designed, and manufactured, there is no cross-reactivity to 1,24(OH)2 vitamin D2, 1,24(OH)2 vitamin D3 or 3-epi-(OH) vitamin D3.

The SmarTest® vitamin D test kit results will not be negatively affected by the presence of bilirubin, triglycerides, cholesterol, vitamin B12 or vitamin C. The presence of bilirubin, which is a product of red blood cells breaking down, may indicate other issues, but test results will remain accurate.

The SmarTest® 25(OH) Vitamin D Blood Test Kit is an Accurate Way to Measure Vitamin D Levels Using Advanced Lateral Flow Technology.

Vitamin D levels play an essential role in the absorption and retention of phosphorus and calcium in the human body, which are both imperative for building and maintaining bone strength. The SmarTest® Vitamin D by Preventis is a vitamin D blood test kit that reports vitamin D levels in as little as 20 minutes. Preventis have developed The SmarTest® Vitamin D to be simple, easy to use, and, most importantly, highly accurate for identifying excessive, sufficient, and insufficient vitamin D levels in the blood.

How are vitamin D levels measured?

Vitamin D is measured from a blood sample using a 25 hydroxy vitamin D lateral flow test. Blood is drawn from a finger-prick blood sample for in-vitro diagnosis via the lateral flow test, quantified by the SmarTest® smartphone app.

Are vitamin D tests accurate?

The 25 hydroxy vitamin D test is the most accurate indicator of vitamin D levels for those at particular risk, but as with all diagnostic tests, conclusions should not be made based on a single test result. The tests are highly accurate if used correctly and the kit is used within the expiration date printed on the box.

What blood test measures vitamin D?

The most common blood test used to measure vitamin D levels in the human body is called a 25 hydroxy vitamin D test. Using the SmarTest® Vitamin D only takes around 20 minutes from starting the test to getting results and this facilitates measuring vitamin D levels in blood in a near-patient test.

How does a lateral flow vitamin D level test kit work?

The Preventis SmarTest® vitamin D test kit is an immunological rapid lateral flow test that determines 25 OH vitamin D from a blood sample using specific antibodies. You only need a few drops of capillary blood taken using the lancet and capillary tube provided. You use a smartphone app to read results. The phone camera scans the red coloured lines on the lateral flow test device. The test line intensity is used to quantify the amount of 25 OH Vitamin D in the sample so that high, optimal, or low vitamin D levels can be identified.

What is a normal vitamin D level?

There are three main categories of 25-OH Vitamin D levels: deficient (<12 ng/ml / <30nmol/l), insufficient (12-20ng/ml / 30-50nmol/l), sufficient (>20ng/ml / 50nmol/l), although a fourth category – ‘high’ is sometimes used when 25-OH vitamin d is in excess. >20ng/ml (>50nmol/l) is considered sufficient for the majority of the population.

How do I receive the vitamin D test results?

The result of the SmarTest Vitamin D is displayed in the app immediately after testing. If the app is connected to the healthcare team’s online web portal, results can also be immediately viewed in the patient’s record.
